Hester Anderiesen LeRiche founded the Dutch company with the goal of improving the quality of life for people with cognitive challenges, such as dementia or intellectual disabilities. To that end, the company has developed a gesture-controlled projection device called the Tovertafel. It casts images onto any flat surface, such as a table or the floor. Users can interact with these images together, such as sweeping leaves aside or pushing balls back and forth. People with dementia or cognitive impairments thus become active in a playful way, interact with each other and their environment, and gain confidence in their abilities.
Challenges
The target group is care institutions. However, these institutions often have limited financial resources and not much time to get to grips with new care technologies.
Scepticism of staff toward digital solutions, as they have a reputation for sedating residents above all else.
Solution
Position Hester LeRiche as a thought leader in modern care and as a female founder with impact.
Expand focus from B2B to B2C to include family members and foundations that can bring awareness or funding to a care home.
Addressing current issues such as the care crisis, Special Olympics World Games in Berlin 2023
Testimonials from users of the Tovertafel (facility managers, relatives)
Inviting journalists to trade fair booths to try out the Tovertafel
